[Tour/Press Article] Custom Revival Events at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park!

Custom Revival Events at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park

“Let’s time travel back to the Joseon dynasty”

★ Date: Every Saturday from April 28th to October 27th.
★ Time: 14:00~16:00
★ Venue: Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park

I visited Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park on Spetember 8th which is 20 days before Chuseok (Korean Thanks Giving Day) to enjoy the custom revival event.

When I got there, many citizens and foreigners were spending fun time participating in hands-on experiences such as playing traditional games, wearing traditional clothes, and making traditional bows, arrows and tops as well as watching the custom revival event.

Children were having fun with playing traditional games.

There was a place where you can try on traditional clothes of Joseon Dynasty as you see above.

The outdoor event stage was filled with people who want to watch various performances. After the improvised traditional dance performance, martial arts performance and a feat of super strength were demonstrated.

Also, Korean fan-dance which reminded me of a flying butterfly pleased people’s eye.

Meanwhile, various cultural customs were revived in another part of the park.

People in traditional clothes were reproducing Sunla Ceremony that is a traditional patrolling custom. In those days, drummers made a warning sound by hitting the drum to protect people when they patrolled the county.

This is representing traditional work shifting of soldiers who guard castle gates. The work shifting ceremony was very serious.

There was also a chance of riding in a sedan chair as well.

Lastly, I was able to ring the huge bell in the park. The bell used to be the Watch-Night bell until Dalgubeol Bell in Gukchae bosang Memorial Park.

This event lasts until October 27th. Why don't you come and experience traditional customs of Joseon Dynasty?
