Geumho River Cosmos Land, Hajungdo
Dagu city created a cosmos park in a small island located between Paldalgyo and Sincheondaero in order to make an Eco-friendly river and to provide a peaceful resting place to Daegu citizens.
Owned by the city, the island is called Hajungdo which means an island in the middle of a river and it used to be used as a land for tenant farming. However, Daegu city decided to make it as an eco-friendly island because of the environmental issues.
The city removed all the vinyl greenhouses that used to cover the island (what you see above is the island before the greenhouses were cleaned up) and planted cosmoses in the 166,000㎡ area. Trails were also created along the island as well.
Furthermore, the city preserved 56,000㎡ area of the island and made habitats of otters to protect wild animals. You should be careful not to hurt the wild animals and their habitats when you walk around the island. Thanks to the efforts of the city, the island became habitats of migratory birds as well. Now the whole island is like an ecology park.
Why don’t you visit the island to enjoy beautiful nature as we are reaching the height of autumn?
