Spain Culture Center is a non-profit organization, authorized by the Centro Acreditado por el Instituto Cervantes, providing official Spanish test and lectures and holding various cultural events. It is located inside of Hotel Inter-Bulgo Daegu. You maybe wonder why it’s in Daegu not in the capital city of Korea and why it’s in a hotel. That’s because the CEO of Hotel Inter-Bulgo likes Spain and has a deep connection with Spain.
To get there,
take Suseong2, Bukgu3, Donggu1-1, Donggu1, 508, 518, 708, 156, 814, 808, 849, or 651 bus.
I walked inside the hotel and kept walking towards the left side of the front gate. First thing I saw was a statue of a knight riding a horse. There was a gallery on the right side of the statue. Spain Culture Center holds special exhibitions every two or three months at the gallery in order to introduce Spain arts of high standard. The center also supports Korean artists’ exhibition so that they can hold their private exhibitions at the gallery.
When I visited the center, a Korean artist’s private exhibition was going on. Elaborately designed statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza were standing in front of the gallery. In addition to them, the whole hotel was decorated with the Spain theme.
I walked up the stairs to the third floor to look around lecture rooms and the library. A big table was in the middle of the Spain Culture Center.
The book shelves in the library were filled with a lot of books collected by the CEO of the hotel and the director of the culture center. Some of them were donated by Daegu citizens.
I found some pictures and painting from Spain artist and other souvenirs from Spain here and there.
The lecture rooms were also filled with many books, audio and video materials, traditional costumes and ornaments. The culture center provides speaking and grammar classes at various levels. Professors are multilingual so you don’t need to worry about communication problem when you study Spanish at the center.
Feel free to visit the Spain Culture Center anytime. The manager will kindly explain the center and anything you are curious about.
