[Sports] The 33rd National Sports Games For The Disabled

The National Sports Games For The Disabled, which is taken place in Daegu, will be held for 5 days (9/30, 2013 - 10/04, 2013) with 7,423 athletes in 27 events at total of 35 stadiums.
It is interesting to know that there are special games designed only for the physically challenged players.

For example, Goalball, a game only for the blind players, is to compete to score goals by kicking a ball that emits audible sound when in motion.
'Boccia' on the other hand, is designed for cerebral palsy players. The players throw, roll or kick the balls to the object balls.

2 days prior to the opening ceremony, the torch will have been delivered for 3 days to light up Daegu during the event period by 268 torch-bears. Yang Joon-Hyuk, a formal baseball player for the Samsung Lions, and Moon Sung Hye, the ping pong medalist of the Beijing Paraympic Games, are supposed to participate at the torch relay as special torch-bearers.

The opening ceremony starts at Daegu stadium at 5:30 pm on September 30th(Mon). The musical performance under the theme of 'Colorful Symphony, Beautiful Resonance' will open the ceremony showing the hopeful story of the 2012 London Paralympic games wheelchair ping pong medalist Mon Sung Hye.

After the official ceremony, the performance of the K-pop stars, SHINee, MBLAQ, Sistar, Kim Gun-mo and Song Dae-kwan, will be continued.

The Closing ceremony will be held at the western square of Daegu Stadium on October 4th(Fri) at 3:30 pm after the overall awards and the extinguishing the torch.
The opening ceremony tickets are distributed at public service centers and resident community centers in Daegu for free of charge and no tickets are needed for all the sports games.

Total of 583 athletes and officials of Daegu sports team will so their best for the all 26 events of the National Sports Games For The Disabled this year. Daegu aims to be in third place in overall.
