Daegu welcomes new batch of SNS supporters

Last May 16, Daegu City government welcomed the new batch of social networking service (SNS) supporters at the opening ceremony held at the city hall’s conference room. A total of 90 strong members comprise this year’s batch of SNS supporters:  50 Koreans, 20 Chinese, and 20 English-speakers.

The city government maintains various social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Naver, and blog sites for both Korean and English viewers. The Chinese online portals – Sina Blog and Sina Weibo - will be launched in June this year.

The SNS volunteers play roles in promoting Daegu through these online channels, and participating in various events sponsored by the city government. Mr. Kim Cheol Seop, the city spokesperson, who came to deliver a speech to welcome the group, assured every one of government support in all SNS activities. He also hopes Daegu will be more renowned, and expects more tourist influx as a result of increased online presence.

Dachaeum  and Touch Daegu, two representative social media sites of Daegu, were both launched in 2011 and continue to provide online communications between the city and its citizens.
