DaFood Expo 2015 – The Daegu International Food Expo @ EXCO
Did you make it out to the Daegu Food Expo a few weeks ago? If you missed it, here are some highlights!
The Daegu Food Expo is held at EXCO every year and is an opportunity for local restaurants, bakeries, and food industry supply companies to show off their best offerings.
Inside the main door, several of Daegu’s most popular international restaurants displayed their most favored dishes.
Bakeries from all over the city submitted cakes and breads that were unique and in many ways, beautiful.
While the expo is more geared toward food industry partners, there’s still some fun for anyone who loves to eat! The expo sports a small “international” area, where you can trade real money for play money (1,000 won to $1) to purchase snacks.
This year, booths were from Hawaii (coconut water from actual coconuts!), India, the Congo in Africa, Australia, Ecuador, and a few others. Of course, there’s a healthy offering of Korean food, too!
On the other side of all the food, food industry partners displayed all kinds of kitchen and preparation equipment. One giant gadget caught my eye that looked like something straight out of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory!
All in all, it was a fun day with some delicious and interesting food! My favorite part may have been watching the “Australian” ice cream prep with liquid nitrate. While the process looked cool, I didn’t love the texture of the ice cream.
If you missed it this year, make an effort to go out next year! It’s sure to be a fun time with friends!
