Daegu is Cleaning Up Tunnels and Underground Roads in the City

Daegu Facilities Safety Management Office has started cleaning of Bongmu, Daeseo, and Paldal underground roads and Paljoryeong and Gukwoo Tunnel. The cleaning of street furniture was planned to improve its utility by sweeping tunnels and roads to remove car exhausts and dirts on the walls.

The work has started September 1st and will be finished before 'Chuseok' so that it would not disturb the citizens who drive to their hometown to greet the Korean Thanksgiving Day starts on 13th.
Among 22 tunnels in Daegu, relatively more contaminated two tunnels--Paljoryeong and Gukwoo--will be vacuumed. A series of detailed maintenance was conducted on all tunnels last June and underground roads goes through examination every two years to maintain its usage as well.

Kim, the head of Facilities Safety Management Office told, "due to the ongoing services, temporary close on roads and restrictions may cause some inconvenience but we hope our citizens understand and to cooperate with our work."
