Five Sushi Restaurants to Try in Daegu

Daegu is a sushi-lover’s paradise with new sushi restaurants popping up on a regular basis.  Whether you're having a date night or looking for a casual bite to eat, here are five sushi restaurants to try in Daegu that are not only delicious but affordable as well.

Address: 15-6 Samdeokdong 1ga, Jung-gu, Daegu (next to Gallery Zone)

Wild Sushi offers creative Korean-fusion sushi, large portions, and a fun, lounge-like atmosphere. The set menus include an appetizer, soup, salad, and a platter of sushi - great for sharing with one or more people.  While the sushi is good, arguably the best menu item is their tower of fried boneless chicken salad topped with sliced almonds, hard-boiled eggs, slivers of Asian pear, and honey mustard sauce.

I'm SUSHI / 아임스시
Address: 29-2 Sangyeok-ro 6-gil, Buk-gu, Daegu

I’m Sushi is a hip yet cozy late-night spot located near Kyungpook National University’s North gate.  Ordering is easy as there are many set menus and combo meals to select from off their picture book menu.  Prices are very reasonable and the set menus offer a good variety of sushi or Japanese-fusion options.  There are numerous restaurants and bars in this area, which make I’m Sushi a great place pre or post drinks.

Address: 59-4 Gongpyeong-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu

You may have unknowingly passed by Sushi Last while walking around downtown and noticed the long line outside.  As one of the most affordable sushi options in Daegu - approximately 11,000 for a 14-piece set menu that includes a bowl of udon soup - you can always expect at least a 30-minute wait.  The sushi in the set menu isn’t as varied as some other sushi restaurants, but you certainly won’t leave feeling hungry.

Address: 113 Dusan-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu (Hwaggeum Junction, on the corner on SK Leaders View building)

Cook Fish is a quiet neighborhood spot that serves fresh fish prepared by a chef with international experience.  The baseball-themed interior is spacious and the service is very friendly.  Some of the combo sets can be a bit pricey, but for those on a budget, you can order 10 pieces of sushi for as little as ₩10,000  In addition to sushi, you can find other Japanese favorites on the menu such as tempura and udon soup.

스시이로까 (Sushi Rogga)
Address: 394 Jungang-daero, Jung-gu, Daegu

스시이로까, or “Sushi Rogga” is probably one of the most traditional Japanese-style sushi restaurant in Daegu serving up huge slices of super fresh fish and a daily specials menu that is constantly changing.  The upper level restaurant is tiny and easily missed from street level if you don’t know what you are looking for.  Once inside, grab a seat around the bar and place your order with one of the sushi chefs.  Like most sushi restaurants on this list, the set menus are a great value with a 12-piece from the special variety menu running approximately 15,000.
