Keep Warm this Winter with
'A Bowl of Tofu Stew'
As tempting as it is to stay indoors when the weather turns colder, why not get some fresh air with one of Apsan Park’s many hikes? On your way back down the mountain, warm yourself up with a hot, steaming bowl of sundubu jjigae (순두부찌개 , tofu stew) at Gosangol Sundubu(고산골 순두부), a favorite hot spot for Korean comfort food.
Sundubu jjigae (순두부찌개) is a spicy Korean stew made with soft tofu, lots of vegetables, and in this case, lots of seafood. The stew is cooked in a clay pot directly over a gas stove and arrives at the table still boiling hot. A raw egg is served on the side and should be added to the soup while it is still bubbling so that the egg will cook.
If you’re looking for something besides tofu soup, you can order from their simple picture menu (in both English and Korean) posted on the wall and on the sides of the restaurant. Some favorites include bindaetteok(빈대떡), a mushroom and vegetable pancake made from bean paste, freshly made tofu topped with stewed kimchi, and bossam(보쌈), boiled pork belly wrapped in lettuce leaves. All the dishes come with an unlimited supply of Korean side dishes, which changes daily.
No matter what the weather, this popular restaurant is always bustling with hikers and foodies day and night. Spicy, hot, inexpensive, and delicious, sundubu jjigae(순두부찌개) is the perfect dish to keep you warm this winter!
