Coffee and Café Fair & Fabric and Bedding Fair
There were 2 fairs that took place at EXCO this past weekend: the Coffee and Café Fair, and the International Fabric and Bedding Fair.
Everyone knows that Korean coffee started in Daegu; the city is home to several of the country’s biggest names in brewing. Havana Express, Café Myungga, MASS Coffee, Hands Coffee, Café Bom Bom, and many others started in Daegu, so it is only right that this fair is held in Coffee-ful Daegu. I was never a coffee drinker before I moved to Korea. Honestly, I don’t even remember seeing any cafes back home other than Starbucks. However living here, especially Daegu, where there is a café in every other building, I’ve grown to love it.
At the coffee expo, not only do get to see different coffee brands from all over the world but you can see baked goods, handmade aprons, flashy little buzzers, and the high-tech machinery behind coffee brewing. Silly me thought it was all done by hand but there were machines here with touch-screens and automatic mixing technology!! One thing I didn’t expect to see was the machine that designs foam for lattes. You can choose your own design or you can choose from the dozens of built-in designs. What would you choose?? I want a PSY latte.
After spending about an hour or so walking around and trying so samples of coffee and snacks I headed over to the fabric and bedding fair. Not only coffee but Daegu is also the center of Korea’s textile industry. Clothing, sofas, chairs, wall art, bedding, and curtains are just some of the items you can see at this fair.
After I was finished I sat down on one of the sofas. I noticed there was music coming from it. I’m not 100% sure but I think it had a built-in Bluetooth speaker that hooked-up to your phone.
Over in the wall art booth was some really cool art with little lightbulbs. I wanted to ask the person working there if he painted the art himself but he was on the phone.
