Daegu’s 25th Annual Christmas Festival with Min Hee

Daegu’s 25th Annual Christmas Festival with Min Hee

This year the Christmas Festival was held on the 18th of December.  Min Hee has been there for the last four years.  It has become a tradition for our family.  This was the 25th year the event was held.  There is plenty to see and do and this year it seems there was more going on that last year.  The event organizers did a great job!

Every year they set up a table manned by volunteers and people are invited to write a wish or a message that will be posted on the tree for others to see.  Min Hee wrote our names and gave a wish.  She kept the wish a secret though!
“What can I wish for, daddy?”
“You can wish for anything.  Is there a present you want Santa to bring you?”
“Yes…. But I won’t tell you.  I’ll only tell Santa!”

The parade consisted of several Christmas themed floats and each float was filled with Christmas characters and winter animals.  It was very nice to see many children Min Hee’s age dressed up and participating.

Some of the characters were animals and some were the characters from famous Christmas plays and stories.  It is nice to know so many people volunteer their time to put on these events for the city’s children and families.

This event is all about family and friends.  There was a lovely atmosphere as there were characters wandering through the crowd giving candies or Christmas wishes.  Also they played Christmas music.  It is always interesting to hear Christmas Carols sung in languages other than English.  Each year there are live performances and music as well as standard recorded music.

We had a great time and look forward to next year’s event!
“Mommy and daddy, can we come here tomorrow?”
“No, baby girl it is finished today. But we can come back next year.”
“Woo Hoo! Let’s do it!”

We hope to see you out and about in our Colorful Daegu and if you happen to see us, please say HI!  If you would like to see more of Min Hee’s activities, please visit her facebook page and give her a LIKE (thumbs up)!  Here is a link:
